📢SCHEDULE CHANGE: With the probability of snow, cold temperatures, and icy conditions increasing in the eastern third of Washington County, WCPS will operate on a 2-hour delayed schedule tomorrow, January 15, 2026. Childcare for elementary students will be provided at elementary schools (for elementary aged students only) for working families who need it. So excited to be hosting the WCS elementary literacy teams for their monthly collaborations at HPES today. What a great experience for the reading specialist and intervention teams to have the time to learn from one another!

Childcare for elementary students will be provided at elementary schools (for elementary aged students only) for working parents who need it. Please watch for additional information from your child's elementary school.

📢SCHEDULE UPDATE: Washington County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2025. Most roads are clear and dry and we had hoped that more secondary roads would improve throughout the day. However, there are several areas in every part of the county that still have roads that are ice covered. WCPS Offices will open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Childcare will be available beginning at 10:00a.m. Please watch for additional information from your child’s elementary school. Be safe and stay warm!

📢SCHEDULE UPDATE: Due to winter weather and poor road conditions across the county, WCPS will be CLOSED today, Friday, December 12, 2025. Childcare will NOT provided at elementary schools.

📢 Clinic Schedule Change

Please be aware that the clinic at High Point Elementary School and John S. Battle High School will be closed on Thursday, December 11, 2025, for staff training.

The clinic will reopen with normal business hours on Friday, December 12, for sick visits.

HPES PTO - Night with our 3rd grade Egyptian program. Parents and students danced and "Walked like an Egyptian!" Thank you students and families for a great program! Thank you WCS board members for supporting the arts is our schools for nights like this!

Celebrating Thanksgiving with a feast. Students created placemats and enjoyed a Thanksgiving Feast of good food together.

High Point Elementary's custodian, Adam Glasscock is going above the call of duty! When the school was short-staffed, Adam stepped up without hesitation -- taking on extra shifts and keeping High Point shining!

What an exciting day for WCPS' Elementary Robotics Teams as they are competing in the LEGO Robotics Competition! Every Elementary School had at least one team that competed and they are judged on Presentations, Robots/Coding, and Core Values! Good Luck!

However, due to road conditions, bus service will NOT be provided in the Konnarock, Taylor’s Valley, and Green Cove areas.

Great night of music and movement at HPES. Big thank you to our school board who continue to support the music and arts programs in WCS. 4th grade cardio drumming had families moving and grooving in their seats to music across the decades.

HPES 5th grade enjoying some movement to rhythms on a beautiful morning. Music increasing became faster and students changed directions at a particular beat. Great lesson for movement and music.
